Experience
I earned a bachelor's in English with a Latin concentration from Kennesaw State University and a master's in Comparative Literature from Emory University, where I focused on both classical and British lit. I have spent more than a decade as a teacher at Auburn and Emory Universities, as well as teaching high schoolers at a local private school. I also tutored in college writing centers for three years, assisting student tutors and helping aspiring writers to improve their work. I have a ton of experience with students whose first language is not English. My strategy as a teacher is to create an environment that students feel comfortable enough in to enjoy and express themselves. I believe when students get to that point it is easier to motivate them and elevate their enthusiasm. I have certifications from the state of Georgia to teach high school English, K through 12 Latin, and AP Latin. I am also comfortable tutoring Math and helping students as they prepare for standardized tests like the PSAT, SAT, and SSAT. Reading is another of my passions, and I also love hiking, yoga, vegetarian cooking, and volunteering with dog rescues.
