Michelle K.
Private tutor in Decatur, GA
Education
Master's degree in applied linguistics (ESL) and a bachelor's degree journalism. Applied Linguistics means teaching English as a Second Language. As such, I have a deep understanding of how students (specifically, adult students) learn a second language. I am trained in detecting and adapting to different learning styles of each student as well as an intimate knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and vocabulary in various registers (ie, business contexts, academic contexts, etc.) In addition, I have in-depth knowledge of high-stakes, standardized language testing such as the TOEFL and IELTS exams, including how these tests are written and how they are scored. For this reason, I am able to customize my lesson to each student's needs and include test-taking strategies relevant to the test each student is scheduled to sit for.
