Experience
I love teaching, especially math and science. I taught formally for three years and have additional experience teaching algebra, physics, biochemistry, organic chemistry, general chemistry, biology, pathophysiology, human anatomy and physiology, and pre-algebra. Often these subjects are presented in a dry way that is intimidating to some students. By contrast, I'm enthusiastic and positive, and I break down complex topics into more understandable segments and steps. I attended BYU for my bachelor's degree in exercise science, graduating cum laude and with honors. I was a TA in human anatomy at the college as well, eventually being chosen as the group leader. This allowed me to instruct other TA's in course material. I've also been a MCAT instructor, helping students prepare for the test individually and in small groups. I understand that everyone learns differently, and I've develop the skill to identify how a student learns and how I can modify my approach to teach to them for maximum effect. In addition to covering subjects, I also help students develop skills in time management, goal setting, accountability, and anxiety management. I want students to be confident in their abilities, and I want to help students understand the math and science subjects as something they can learn and enjoy. In my free time, I enjoy sports, photography, movies, video games, and spending time with my family.
